Resvology to the Rescue!

eye before

Sorry to scare you with my eyeballs. With my schedule lately, I have been running around like a mad woman and it shows. I never complained about dark circles until I really gave the skin around my eyes a cold, hard look. Now, mine may not seem that bad but I am facing my mid-30s and I have already noticed the changes in my skin.  I am oily by nature so I don’t use face cream.  I do use eye cream. I was recently disappointed that my favorite cream had been discontinued and was sold on something else. I am not too happy with the current formulation so when I saw a campaign for Resvology Age Corrective Eye Cream on BrandBacker, I was excited.I received a 0.5 fluid ounce tube complimentary  through BrandBacker and got started using it right away.

photo 4

Resvology Age Corrective Eye Cream ($84 US) is “advanced gene science” that uses the 4-AR molecule, a stabilized and patented form of resveratryl acetate. The 4-AR molecule has been proven to activate over 85 skin-related genes in an in-vitro gene study.  This activity helps skin look more youthful. If you want it in Product Hoochie terms, this is luxurious skincare with a strong basis in science. It also just sounds like it works, but is there proof in the anti-puff pudding?

photo 1

The cream claims that it helps minimize wrinkles, puffiness, and dark circle. I only really have the latter but I am all about prevention. Their “unprecedented results” pretty much tell that 100% of users found fine lines to be minimized, and the eye area to be firmer and hydrated.

photo 2

I tried it out one night after I cleansed my face. I was surprised at how much thinner Resvology Age Corrective Eye Cream is to my usual thick like butter eye cream. It was more of a lotion- easy to apply with a little heft. I gently applied the cream around my eye, paying a little more attention to the nasty dark circles. I have to admit, the cream feels lovely and the scent is not strong or perfumey. I wouldn’t say it smells chemical either, which is a pleasant surprise.

photo 1 (1)A little goes a long way and after a week of use this is what I notice:

photo 2 (1)My circles are a bit lighter and I think looks a little brighter.

After two weeks, I found…

My dark circles seem to have lightened up a bit. I think that if I continue to use the cream nightly, I will see further improvement.  I also think that the skin around my eyes seems firmer to the touch.  Do I think the price tag is too high? Well, I paid $60 US for my current eye cream so $24 more for something that has shown improvement in two weeks might be a better investment.

Scrub-a-Dub with Perlier

There are rocks in there.

There are rocks in there.

I recently received a jar of Perlier Volcanic Thermal Spa Thermal Scrub from ifabbo, a great site that provides complimentary products up for review. I love a good body scrub but have really not been using the one currently in my shower. It just seems like an extra step. I decided that I would have to start exfoliating those pesky dry spots again since I have noticed that with the weather change, certain areas need a little more attention.  This scrub seems to be right up my alley. First, it is Perlier. Perlier always uses fine ingredients and second, it has thermal stones. I just see the word “thermal” and hope this will warm right up and help get all those impurities out!

Blue Lagoon-like!

Blue Lagoon-like!

The scrub is housed in a sturdy plastic jar and holds quite a generous amount of product at 6.7 fluid ounces. Perlier Volcanic Stones is a skin treatment- micronutrients extracted from volcanic rocks deliver rejuvenating and smoothing action. Throw in some Thermal water and regeneration gets going in the epidermis while the the scrub sloughs away dead skin cells.

Just looking at the beautiful blue color of the scrub, I can already tell this will make my shower experience definitely more luxurious. I find the marine fragrance to be a bit strong but It is better once you use it in the shower.  Application was easy enough. Take a dollop with your fingers and rub between your palms. Scrub in circular motion, concentrating on knees and elbows. The scrub rinses off very well.

The verdict? The consistency is terrific. It is more like a gel than an oil based scrub, making it less greasy and easier to work with. I do find that there was some bigger rock pieces that I could really feel sloughing away those dead skin cells. After use,  my skin is soft and glowing. It made shaving much easier to deal with- my legs felt really smooth. I also followed up with a nice moisturizer.

Stuff I Tried This Week- A Day Late

Maybe a dollar short, too. The last few weeks of summer have been action packed and a bit crazy. I am trying to do maybe two posts a week until it slows down a bit. Why waste anymore time? It is fleeting!

Nuance by Salma Hayek My Secret Super Moisturizing Body Cream: I received this free from Birchbox as a bonus. The last Nuance product I wrote about didn’t impress me but this body cream is pretty good. With shea butter, macadamia seed oil, and honey, it really moisturizes the skin but doesn’t feel greasy. I would say it is pretty thick but not to the point that it won’t spread easily. The cream is also paraben free and allergy tested. I don’t care too much for the fragrance- it smells a bit like rotting flowers (sorry)- but the scent doesn’t make me nauseous or sneeze.

nuancecream

Freeman Facial Polishing Mask Charcoal & Black Sugar: This mask is weird. It is very gritty and looks weird on the skin. Charcoal is very good for purifying skin and black sugar makes a fine exfoliant. You apply it to your face, let it set for 5-7 minutes, and then massage for 1-2 minutes. Rinse it off with warm water and you get… a decent fresh face. I think this makes for a quick face mask that does a decent job of exfoliation.

freeman

Cosmetics Reorganization: I have a hard time keeping what I may want to use on a daily basis in an organized manner. I had everything in reused Glossyboxes and containers from the dollar store. I initially bought these plastic drawers for my school stuff but decided they would work well for make-up since they were just sitting around my house.

org1

The bigger drawers have my eye shadows and palettes in them with brushes and eye pencils on top in containers. I also keep some of my daily face stuff on top.

reorg2

The smaller drawers have face products, like primers, foundations, blush, etc. On top are more beauty tools. We will see how long this lasts.

org2What did you try this week?

Hydroxatone is a #BetterBB

I joined iFabbo and after recently getting my husband an awesome shaving set from #HYDformen gratis, I decided I would order the Hydroxatone BB Cream ($39 US). Here is the thing: BB creams and I have had a rocky history. Most of the time, they make the greasy beast emerge and I just can’t deal. If you read my most recent “Stuff I Tried This Week”, you would learn that a certain tinted moisturizer gave me a monster zit that is in hiding. It hurts. Anyway, I was skeptical but since this tube would be free from iFabbo, I figured it was better than me spending more money.

bb1

I first heard of Hydroxatone from their commercial in which they promised you a free trial jar that would eventually cost you 90 bucks, even if you didn’t love it and forgot to call or send it back. I never ordered it because I don’t have many wrinkles and since I am oily, I really have no need. Getting this for free, without a fear of charge, made this a done deal.

I received a generous tube of Hydroxatone BB Cream from iFabbo and used it for a few days. It has all of the things a BB cream is supposed to have: SPF, hydration, decent coverage, brightening power, and even fights the signs of aging. I always fear the word hydration… except I really, really like this BB cream!

bbtube

First off, a little goes a long way. It is pretty thick and at first I was a little nervous that the medium wouldn’t suit me- in fact, it could have been a little deeper.

Before the cream. Good fricken morning.

Before the cream. Good fricken morning.

I might have put too much on my fingers and I really had to spread it around so it wouldn’t show. Once it was blended in, coverage was good. In fact, because it was thick, it really covered those pests we call imperfections.

This is about how much I used. Top is with flash.

This is about how much I used. Top is with flash.

But the real test for me is the oil factor. Let me explain. Yesterday, I only had on some SPF powder. I used four blotting papers in one sitting after a few hours. See what you’re dealing with?

After I applied. My skin looks good, my attitude not so much.

After I applied. My skin looks good, my attitude not so much.

Well… I wasn’t an oily ogre! In fact, I put the #BetterBB on at 8 AM. It is now about 1:30 PM EST and I don’t even feel the need to blot. I think Hydroxatone BB Cream is the one for me- my hunt is over!

At least I am awake.

A Mask for Your Fingers

A few days ago, I did a review on a mask from the Face Shop. The Face Shop is a store that was born in Korea in 2003. They have started to make their way over to our shores fairly recently and I paid them a visit. One of the interesting items I found was the Face It 01 Milk Calcium Nail Pack. Basically, it is a mask for your nails and cuticles.  Since I suffer from brittle nails and dry cuticles, I figured I would give it a try. The  Face It 01 Milk Calcium Nail Pack was about $2.00 US and is in a single use packet. It has colostrums, a very nutrient rich protein from milk, that helps to strengthen the nail,

Does a body good.

Does a body good.

milknail2

I didn’t know what to expect when I cut open the packet for my right hand. Inside were five cloth caps that your put over your each fingernail. They were all generous in size and there is one for the thumb. I washed my hands and then got to it. Putting them on was a bit messy. They had a lot of serum on them so it was a bit difficult, especially when I started to put the caps on my left hand.

Capped off.

Capped off.

At first I was a little disgusted…

Clearly disgusted.

It was also Saturday morning and only one cup of coffee in.

The nail serum was a bit runny and since the caps were saturated, they were a little drippy. I am glad I decided not to do anything, though the website does mention I can get my hair done, and I sat on my couch for 15 minutes watching mindless TV. Once the 15 minutes were up, I removed the masks and rubbed the extra serum into my nails and cuticles. I have to say that my nails did look better. The cuticle area was very soft and my nails kept some shine, even after washing the dishes. I did buy another nail pack and I will give that a try next week.

Have you ever tried a nail mask before?

HauteLook Summer Essentials Are Pretty Necessary

A week or two ago, I wrote a post about the HauteLook with Nordstrom Summer Beauty Bag. (You can check out that post here.) I was totally annoyed, as the bag was $29 US and had mostly “deluxe” samples.  About a week later, HauteLook released its Summer Essentials bag and I ordered it. For $20,  I thought it might just be better. Lucky for me, it was.

What have you got in there?

What have you got in there?

There are 13 products in the Summer Essentials bag and though many are fun size, the full size products up the retail value of the bag. I’ll start off with skin and body care. For the face,  there is a small jar of Miracle 10 AHA Cream. An exfoliator for dry skin, this soothing cream is supposed to bring on even skin texture and fight aging. I will use this eventually but not during the summer. My skin has a tendency to burn, so even putting gentle AHAs on my face frightens me. (Interested in trying Miracle10? Visit Miracle10.com to get Super C & AHA Cream for $82 US. Enter promocode HAUTEBAG13)

Another miracle?

Another miracle?

Yay! Another self-tanning product. I have so many tubes and sheets of glow goop that I don’t even know what to do with it. This single TanTowel is good for half body application and can even be used on the face. I loved the spray on one I used last week (there are still remnants on my legs) but I might just have to try a sheet, too. (Hey- don’t you want to know what happens?)

Vacation in a towel.

Vacation in a towel.

In order to keep your faux tan looking glowing and not blech, slather on Whish Body Butter in Orange Cream. I have tried Whish Shave Cream and the scent was reminiscent of Fruity Pebbles. This tiny tube will be good to throw in a getaway bag but I have a feeling there will be no getaways this summer. L’Occitane Shea Hand Cream is a cult classic and a little goes a long way.  Cooler weather will be here before we know it, so this will come in handy. (Handy- get it?)

Creamy.

Creamy.

I love Diptyque fragrance because though they are complex, they are magically singular. I find the fragrances to truly smell so natural on the body and wear Eau Duelle, a spicy vanilla, I now have a sample of L’Ombre dans l’Eau, which translates to The Shadow in the Water. On first spray, it is very green but rounds out to a floral with rose and blackcurrant. It actually reminds me of a perfume I used to wear but can no longer recall. Such is life!

Secret like a shadow.

Secret like a shadow.

Your crowning glory is up next. Blow Pro After Blow Strong Hold Finishing Spray is a quick dry spray that claims to keep frizz and flyaways at bay. I probably will never find out if this spray works but it sounds good.

Blow Pro then Grab and Go!

Blow Pro then Grab and Go!

I’m loving L. Erickson Grab n’ Go Pony Compact. The compact isn’t very sturdy but it holds a few ponytail elastics in a place where they won’t get lost in my bag. Thank goodness.

Onto the make-up! Start off with great brushes. Since I love my Crown Brushes, I was happy to receive their Travel Brush Set. I don’t like to bring my big brushes on the go and  this set will make it easy.  I am also curious to try Lashfood Nano-Peptide Natural EyeLASH Conditioner. It is supposed to make my lashes stronger. After the lash perm I tried last year, I think this is a safer option.

Long lashes, little brushes.

Long lashes, little brushes.

For some more lash love, there is a tube of LORAC Special Effects Mascara in Black. One side has a primer and the other has a lengthening mascara. I remember when Revlon had a mascara like this many years ago and I miss it so this should be fun to try out.

Long and lovely lashes.

Long and lovely lashes.

Now, we go from lashes to lips. There are three lip products in the bag and they are pretty fabulous. First in line is an NYX Lip Smacking Fun Color Lipstick in #597 Margarita. It looks more like a watermelon margarita to me, as it is a shimmery pink-orange shade. This lipstick is in the round tube and is under $4 US. I love NYX lipstick and am more than happy to add this to my collection.

NYX Lips

NYX Lips

Margarita!

Margarita!

We are almost done! To keep lipstick in line, there is an Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil in Naked. Since it is a neutral color, I think it can be used with pretty much any lip color.

Lining and a bomb!

Lining and a bomb!

The bonus in the bag is a Mirenesse Lip Bomb Glossy Lacquer Stain in #27. It is a coral that errs on orange I’m guessing it is a gloss that will impart shine and stain the lip for lasting color. I have another lip product from Mirenesse that I really like, Maybe one of these day I will do a comparison.

What would you like to try from the HauteLook Summer Essentials bag?

I Have A Lot of Beauty Boxes to Recycle

There were more. Trust me.

There were more. Trust me.

And I only mean that after I have opened them and emptied the contents! I got FIVE beauty packages in the mail this week. In this post, we will take a gander at my GlossyBox and Birchbox deliveries. In the next post, we need to discuss the HauteLook Summer Beauty bag and a package all the way from someone Short (and Sweet) in Texas. I will give you a quick rundown of each box and then pick and choose the items I really think you need to know about in future posts.  Here we go!

First up is the July GlossyBox, le Grand Bleu, or the Big Blue, or the Grand Indigo (I made that up.) Very disappointing delivery- probably most disappointing of the lot and there was no magazine! Actually, that’s good news because that means things will be looking up from here. There were five products plus a “bonus.” At $21 a month, I deserve a bonus. Unfortunately, I will not use three of them and only one is a full size product and the cheapest in the box.

Okay, okay, give to my sister, okay, throw in travel bag, give to someone that needs it

Okay, give to Cindy, give to my sister, okay, throw in travel bag, give to someone that needs it

The Brazilian Blowout Acai Deep Conditioning Mask will be used up when I need to deep condition. (Remind me to tell you my Rio acai story sometime. I was fun in my 20s!)  Bvlgari Eau Parfumee au the Blanc Shampoo & Shower Gel is the third product from the white tea fragrance line. Though I like the scent, enough alread, my friend Cindy likes the smell and just like I passed off the soap to her, she will get the shower gel. Nails Inc. Baker Street Nail Polish may look like a regular bottle but it is small and I know because I already own it. My sister is lucky. That girl ends up with everything. Figs & Rouge Cherry Blossom Tinted Balm Tube is full size and is $9 US. I thought it was an L’Occitane hand cream. Nope. I will use it since I like the way the tube looks. My “bonus” is Nicka K New York Absolute! Make-Up Cleansing towelettes. I have said it before and I will say it again- they sell this brand at my local beauty supply and the make-up runs around $3 US on average. Lastly is the Evologie Intensive Blemish Serum. I rarely get acne and I like my good old tea tree to handle that.  I am not impressed with this month’s selections- they are way too run of the mill and small!

Every year, the Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW) have the Insiders’ Beauty Awards. Birchbox curated two boxes of winners. They were recently on sale- $26 for both. I thought that was pretty good and had some points left, so I managed to score both for $23.31. I’ll start with the Prestige Headliners – Birchbox for CEW. Originally priced at $18 US, this little box had the stuff you could buy at Sephora or a department store.

Birchbox Presige Box

Birchbox Prestige Headliners

Since there are so many, I’ll list:

-IT Cosmetics Brow Power Universal Brow Pencil (might be a full size- Sam over at Samandro22 got me into filling in my brows!)

-Living Proof Prime Style Extender (Decent sized tube. Eh.)

-Julep Nail Color in Teri (It’s a full bottle!)

-Julep Essential Cuticle Oil (Another biggie! For my dry cuticles, I need a miracle.)

-Elizabeth Arden Prevage Anti-Aging Triple Defense Shield Broad Spectrum SPF 50 (“Deluxe”Sample)

-La Fresh Eco-Beauty Oil-Free Face Cleanser, Scented (2 wipes. I’m cool with that.)

Next is the Birchbox for CEW Mass Market Finalists. This box is a treasure trove of drugstore finds and I have only tried two out of the six! Five of the products are full size, making for a great value.

On the cheap.

On the cheap.

-Olay Pro-X Spot Fading Treatment (Sample tube but it should last a bit because you only use a few drops at a time.)

-Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey (Love these!)

-L’Oreal Paris Infallible Eye Shadow in #557 Glistening Garnet (I hope it is way better than the Armani Eyes to Kill one I bought.)

-Burt’s Bees Ultimate Care Hand Cream (Full size tube- since I finished my most recent favorite, I will try this next.)

-Nivea A Kiss of Olive OIl & Lemon Moisture Rich Lip Care (Finally! My favorite balm is LaBello- it is Nivea in the States and this flavor is more European!)

-Simple Revitalizing Eye Roll-On (I love eye rolls…)

What do you think? I have a lot of work ahead of me, huh?

Before You Dress… Caress (A Soiree & LaLa Anthony)

I always think of Product Hoochie as the little blog that could. I also know that without a lot of readers or some fancy format, it is really difficult to breakthrough in the blogging industry. That is why I was very pleasantly surprised to receive an invitation to a Caress launch event at the Gramercy Park Hotel.

Don't take this lying down.

Don’t take this lying down.

Gramercy Park (or Gramercy) is a neighborhood in NYC. The actual Gramercy Park is a private park and only those residing around the park that pay an annual fee get a key to enter. It is a district of bygone New York and The Gramercy Park Hotel sits right next to the park. It is a tapestry of the past, the present, and the future of the city that I call home. The Caress launch was up on the Gramercy Terrace, a beautiful space that channeled a vineyard.

Gramercy Park, New York, New York

Gramercy Park, New York, New York (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

When I stepped foot on the terrace, I was surrounded by a very seductive scent. At first, I was a little overwhelmed. (Social anxiety at its finest.) The sights, the smell, and people I did not know strolled the terrace and luckily, I was greeted by Jenn and her kind smile. She invited me to the event and was very gracious. After Jenn gave me the rundown (this was my first launch event after all), I met a few other popular bloggers and the festivities were soon underway.  LaLa Anthony, the  new Caress Fabulista, told us about her love for the latest Caress scent, Tempting Whisper. Created by Nicole Mancini of Givaudan, the latest Caress  shower gel uses  “fine fragrance elixirs”, a rarity in drugstore bath products.

The many fine fragrances of Caress.

The many fine fragrances of Caress.

Attendees soon were sent to activities. I feared bridal or baby shower games but no worries! We got to “shop” and do a perfume class. If you know me, you know these are probably my two favorite things in the world. I got to shop first and pick out a fabulous accessory that channeled my inner fabulista with a Rebecca Minkoff clutch.

The clutch for "My Junk" and a Tempting Whisper.

The clutch for “My Junk” and a Tempting Whisper.

Then my inner wanna-be perfumer took a class with Nicole Mancini. She taught us how she built Tempting Whisper. We then experienced the fragrance in different ways, starting with test strips and ending with wine glasses. I rarely think about the ways I live in fragrance and this was a new way to appreciate how to interpret scent.

The fabulous LaLa Anthony. I think I read somewhere she is a Brooklyn girl, too!

The fabulous LaLa Anthony. I think I read somewhere she is a Brooklyn girl, too!

Caress is really revamping the line. It isn’t just that pink bar of soap anymore! I like the idea that they use exquisite ingredients. We all know beauty products can bust up your pocketbook and Caress makes finer fragrances really affordable. In our economy, it is important to be able to treat yourself without breaking the bank. If Tempting Whisper is what that smells like, I will be hopping on.

Luxury at home!

Luxury at home!

I plan on using Caress Tempting Whisper today. There will be a full on review  and some snippets of my chat with Nicole Mancini of Givaudan very soon. A special thanks to Jenn and all the members of Team Caress!

Friday Night Beauty

Welcome to the weekend!  After writing about my husband’s shaving habits yesterday with #hydformen and knowing I have a pretty jammed packed Saturday and a probably busy enough Sunday, I figured tonight I would take care of some grooming. I started off with my eyebrows. I do them myself- I hate getting them waxed and I prefer to pluck and trim them on my own. I start by combing them up so the longs ones stand out and then I trim with an eyebrow scissor by Sally Hansen. Once I am trimmed on top, I pluck the ends with my beloved Tweezerman. My eyebrows have a decent shape so a good clean up every week or so is all I need. I don’t have a uni-brow so I don’t have to deal with it. I might test out some eyebrow powder tomorrow to fill in the sparse spots which I think are more evident in photos or it could just be the fact that I just ignore them.

Giving myself a haircut.

Giving myself a haircut.

Once I was done plucking, I washed my face with my favorite Moody Sisters Foaming Wash and then applied NUXE Paris Masque Creme Fraiche de Beaute. (That is missing all sorts of accent marks. Just saying.) It is a 24 hour soothing mask that hydrates skin. Truth is I was afraid to try it. I will now have to buy it. I applied it and left it on for about 40 minutes (The website says ten minutes. Like I ever pay attention. My little sample tube had no instructions.) It smells like oolong tea and jasmine. As it penetrated my face, it got a bit oily so I got a wash cloth and gently removed it. My skin is so soft right now that I might actually have to buy this.

You do want to touch my face. It's a little scary.

You do want to touch my face. It’s a little scary.

My last step was painting my nails. I did go for a manicure and pedicure this week but the polish started to chip and look blah so I took it all off. At least my cuticles look good and my nails kept their shape. I painted on a coat of NailTek Foundation II and then two coats of Revlon Color Stay Longwear Nail Enamel in Trade Winds. On my ring finger, I applied two coats of P2 Sand Style Polish in Strict. (Thanks to Girl in the Glasses!) I love this sand polish because it had a shiny application and I don’t mind it shiny. Then I used Nails Inc. Nail Caviar Topcooat (dries polish in 45 seconds!)  Here is what I got!

Conservative with a little edge.

Conservative with a little edge.

My hubs put on “Battleship.” I figured out the entire plot in the first five minutes (maybe less) and then the whole reason why I would even watch the movie got killed off. Right now, I see water and smoke on my TV screen. And a pretty blonde.

What did you do tonight? I hope you were out and carousing!

HYD- Making my Hubs a Product Hoochie

My poor husband. Not only does he have to deal with my crazy, he also has to handle my love of beauty products. When I get bored, I manage to find him masculine grooming products (ahem) that I hope will convert him into a fellow PH. It hasn’t worked yet with the exception of shaving oil from The Art of Shaving. But I digress. A few weeks ago, I joined iFabbo, a company that dishes out beauty products for review. It is a great site for beauty bloggers. I was accepted into the program and went into my sample shop. I wasn’t too interested in what was available for me BUT I noticed a shaving kit by HYD for Men. I was curious and ordered it, figuring he could actually use the items. iFabbo sent the kit complimentary and it contained the three products in the HYD for Men line. The products are full size so my husband will get a number of shaves out of the kit.

HYD for Men!

HYD for Men wants men to have an excellent shave, while being environmentally aware and saving you some money. How, you ask? Well, they make Razor Shield,  a product that extends the life of a razor. Looking at the ingredients, it is an oil blend that lubricates the razor. The funny part about it is that the gentleman shaving does not apply Razor Shield to their face. Instead, it is applied directly to the blade after shaving. The extra lubrication keeps the blade from corroding and you get more use out of the blade. Interesting concept. The kit also included the Buffer Stick, which is an exfoliating stick. We all know that it is important to scrub your skin two-three times a week to reveal new skin and in men, help prevent ingrown hairs on their face. Lastly, was the Shave Cream, which helps the razor “glide” over the skin.

Soon to be soft as a baby's...

Soon to be soft as a baby’s…

After using the HYD Shave System for a few days, my hubs gave me the rundown. He is super honest and can be pretty blunt.

Everything on my bathroom sink.

Everything on my bathroom sink.

HYD for Men Razor Shield (5 mL $6.99 US/ 15 mL $17.99 US): “Useless. In this day and age of disposable blades, it is useless. I didn’t find my razor to be any more improved by the Razor Shield. The blade still dulled over time. It would have been better if it was dispensed with a different pump or spray. You just kind of pour the oil on. Even still, I don’t like it but it would improve the product.”

Save your razor.

Save your razor.

HYD for Men Buffer Stick ($24.99 US): “Jury is still out on this one. If it does what it says it does, I’ll like it. After a few uses, I’m still not sure.” (Mind you, I got my hubs on St. Ives Apricot Scrub and…) “The Apricot Scrub probably does a better job. It (the Buffer Stick) helps. I got a good shave and I’m not sure how long the stick is going to last. I don’t think it is very cost effective as a replacement for a scrub.” (That he knows I have a million scrubs in the house anyway…)

Scrub-a-dub-dub

Scrub-a-dub-dub

HYD for Men Shave Cream ($12.99 US): “I liked it. It went on smooth and had a cool, refreshing feel to it. It worked well. I shaved today and put a thin layer on and a layer of my cheaper shaving cream and got a good shave. It isn’t as foamy as things out of a compressed can but it improved my shave. I also liked that I didn’t need a brush.”

Creamy.

Creamy.

Soft & Smooth

Soft & Smooth

Would you purchase anything from the HYD line?: “I would buy the shave cream. Still on the fence about the Buffer Stick but probably not and the Razor Shield is a no.”

My husband does enjoy the products, particularly the shave cream and it is at a lower price point than other higher end shaving products. One thing I noticed on the website was this, “SMOOTHER FACES: A face so smooth, women won’t be able to keep their hands off you.” Do I like touching my husband’s freshly shaven face? Of course. But maybe some men that would use HYD Shave Products don’t have romantic relationships with women.

Hmmm....

Hmmm….

It’s 2013- maybe the wording should be changed to, “A face so smooth, a certain someone won’t be able to keep their hands off you.” Adding a picture of a man and a woman would be okay but by using the word “women,” it really implies that the products are geared towards heterosexual men.

And you know I’m going to shave my legs with this.
